Puntite Fisheries, is a local fishing company committed in empowering Somali coastal communities while promoting sustainable catchment of the domestic fish and preserving the overall regional aqua-life. We strategically empower and employ local fishermen while simultaneously training women in standardized fish processing and preparing dried and value-added fish products. Puntite Fisheries is an embodiment of innovation and tradition, embarked on its journey in 2020 with a resolute commitment to empower Somali coastal communities and cultivate sustainable fishing practices that coexist harmoniously with the aquatic realm. We stand as an anchor of hope, nurturing lives and the oceans alike.

HISTORICAL TIMELINE

SETTING SAIL (2016 - 2017)

2016: Captain Yusuf Ali Xiddig, a former Somali naval captain and marine science specialist with over 30 years of experience in the fishery sector, conceives the idea of Puntite Fisheries after witnessing the challenges faced by coastal communities in Puntland.

2017: Puntite Fisheries is officially founded, with a mission to empower coastal communities,
promote sustainable fishing practices, preserve aquatic life, and deliver premium seafood products
to local and global markets.

NAVIGATING CHALLENGES (2018 - 2019)

2018: Puntite Fisheries begins collaborating with local fishermen, launching initiatives to address social issues in the fishery sector, and starting efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of fishing and fish processing.

2019: The company faces various challenges but remains committed to its vision, working tirelessly to build partnerships and sustainable supply chains.

RECILIENCE AND COMMITMENT (2020 - 2021)

2020: Puntite Fisheries achieves faces harsh challenge because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire fishing market and supply chain collapses in few months and both the company and coastal communities suffered immensely.

2021: Despite global challenges, company's commitment to excellence and sustainability gains recognition within the industry and coastal communities.

FORGING A BRIGHTER FUTURE (2022 - 2023)

2022: Puntite Fisheries solidifies its position as a leader in sustainable fishing practices, advancing economic opportunities for fishers and their communities in Puntland, Somalia. The company's impact on coastal communities becomes increasingly evident.
2023: Puntite Fisheries looks ahead with a clear vision of a brighter, more sustainable future. The
company remains unwavering in its dedication to preserving marine ecosystems and empowering coastal communities, setting a course for continued growth and positive change.
